LOCAL DEVELOPMENT PICKS UP PRESTIGIOUS ARCHITECTURE AWARD

Brentford Lock West has added yet another prestigious industry award to its tally as Chalico Walk secures a RIBA Regional Award. Chalico Walk, designed by Mae Architects has recently been selected as one of the London winners, recognised for its impressive architecture.

This is the fourth RIBA Award for the development and follows a RIBA Award last year for The Arbor, as well as a RIBA National and a RIBA London Award in 2015, for The Halyards, the first collection of homes delivered as part of this large-scale regeneration scheme.

Local residents are encouraged to lace-up their running shoes and take part in Brentford's biggest multi-sport event.

Brentford Lock West wins a prestigious RIBA London Award 2017

Waterside Places has won a highly acclaimed RIBA London Award for its waterside development, Brentford Lock West. This is the third RIBA Award for the development and follows a RIBA National and a RIBA London Award in 2015, for the first collection of homes delivered here as part of this large-scale regeneration scheme.

This latest RIBA Award, was for The Arbor – by Architects Mikhail Riches with Cathy Hawley. The Arbor was the last collection of homes to delivered as part of phase one at Brentford Lock West and comprises 27 one, two and three bedroom apartments, duplexes and townhouses, situated along a neighbourhood street. The scheme and its design was described by the judges as being 'functional, but also thoughtful, and indeed, charming' and it was recognised for providing accommodation, which was 'spacious' and 'well planned throughout' with 'good natural light and views'.

Sunday April 9th will see intrepid families take on the Brentford 5K Challenge through Syon Park. Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, in partnership with Brentford Lock West and Richmond RUNFEST, are welcoming families to take on the 5k run, walk, get around the course any way you can. If land-based exercise is not your thing there is the chance to experience Stand-Up Paddleboarding with introductory sessions at Brentford Lock with Active 360.

After meandering through the Duke of Northumberland's gardens, all finishers will receive a medal and finishers bag as they cross the finish-line. There will also be a raffle open to the public, with all race finishers receiving a free ticket to the draw.

After the 5K there are a series of multi-sport activities to try including the +Sport Move and Learn inflatable football pitch, dodgeball, frisbee golf, rounders, boxercise and soccercise as well as many more activities which will be confirmed nearer to the event.
